Book Cover & Layout

“I will wait for you” Is a book written by Jonghyun Kim. I painted the cover art digitally and laid out the type on the cover. I also helped to organize and lay out the chapters inside the book. I ordered and oversaw the printing of the book.

HPBC Re-branding

This is a rebranding of the materials for Hyde Park Baptist Church. They had a pre-existing logo that they wanted to keep, so I created the mood board shown to fit that logo. I strove to convey warmth, the pastor believes that your church family is like your real family so I chose imagery that conveyed care and comfort. I chose a color palette to be bright and exciting. Starting with the blue that was already a part of the logo I added the darker blue for grounding color and the peach color to use as an accent. The church branding before felt "traditional" and the church leaders wanted to take a step away and become a little bit more modern.

I was commissioned to work on the bulletin PowerPoint template and website. The bulletin needed to convey the sermon overview and the announcements for the given Sunday. To break up the information I chose to handle all of the passages of scripture in the light blue and the main text to be in black so that you can focus on the main points but still have the passages of scripture to look up later.

The PowerPoint system needed to handle large amounts of information or text but in a way that is digestible to its audience. The main things that were important to grasp for the songs in the points of the scripture.

I was also commissioned to rebrand the website of Hyde Park Baptist Church. https://hpbaptist.org/ I changed all of the photography through self-shot images and stock photos. I also reworked their user experience. I consolidated pages and move them around so they were the most intuitive to a new guest. I set up a path for someone new to the website to walk through the information that people mainly look for when you are researching for churches.

Rye Berry Branding

The Rye Berry is a project conducted for school. The Rye Berry is a fake tea and cafe company, I made a logo, stationery, loose leaf tea packaging, tea box packaging, tea bag packaging, a sandwich wrap, a t-shirt and to go cups. The logo was inspired by branches with berries on them. In this project, I wanted to express a high-end style. All the elements are designed to have a natural look with still being considered more high-end quality tea. that's why I used a darker color palette with a handwritten logo.

Abode Advantage

The Abode Advantage branding is a project conducted for Abode Advantage. Abode Advantage is a retirement home striving to be a more encouraging place than most retirement homes by placing their patients in a real home out in a community and helping them feel like they are still a part of society. For Abode Advantage I mad a logo and stationery.

For the design, the colors are meant to feel safe and the design I wanted to provoke a younger feel using the image of both a house roof and a checkmark that can be combined in two different ways.

Essential Skincare

Essential Skincare packaging design was conducted for a school project. Essential Skincare is a made-up company that sells skin care for all types of skin. I created a logo and packaging for two different products in a skincare line. In this project, I wanted to express what each customer is receiving from each product. Each of the products has a theme for what they do and those themes informed my color choices for the packaging. For example, the blue and green are calm and soothing and the product is meant to soothe and smooth razor bumps while moisturizing. Likewise the red and yellow is an exfoliator which takes your red irritated skin and cleans it.

Pelican Hay Equipment

The Pelican Hay Equipment logo and stationery is a branding job conducted for Pelican Hay Equipment. Pelican Hay Equipment is a hay spear company selling hay spears to enhance small-time farmer’s lives. In this project, I wanted to show a strong mark that could stand up in the community of other farm equipment. All the elements are designed to be simplified and streamlined for ease. I chose orange and brown for the colors since they were not already represented in the competition.

House of Cards

House of Cards was a school project which tasked me to pick a poem and then create a symbol, like a trademark or a logo, based on the poem and from the symbol create 16 cards the embodied the poem I chose.

The poem I chose was Psalms 84; it's talking about the amazing protection provide by God and in turn because of this protection the longing to worship Him. Taking imagery from the poem itself my symbol focused on the protection part of the Psalm and my cards carried over the protection while showcasing the idea of longing for being in the courts of the Lord (meaning his temple in this old testament psalm). Incorporating pictures, I shot some looking weary and downcast and some looking more hopeful. The color palette chosen is darker colors but still elegant having a royal sense but focusing on the idea of looking at something in the distance. (In this case the court of the Lord)

Badoni and universe were the typefaces chosen. Badoni is a typeface that is strong yet still had an elegant feel conveying the longing for something, but it's talking about God who is our protector and who is our king. The universe gives the overall piece a sense of strong stability through the type and helps make a statement.

Wilderness Ridge Branding

The Wilderness Ridge branding is a project conducted for The Wilderness Ridge at PVM retreat center. Wilderness Ridge is a campsite and a conference center they wanted their logo to reflect business while still being inviting to children. I made a logo and stationery.

The clients were specific that they wanted a mountain and did not want browns and greens in the logo. I wanted to express an elegant style while still portraying a security of a strong business. I accomplished this through the use of color and typefaces, by pairing the serif with the sans serif and the use of both blue and orange.

Coffee Line

This project was a full re-brand of the coffee brand for EG America convenience stores. EG America is a company of many brands, all with one unique identifier - the United States diamond logo. The name and look of this coffee brand were selected to blend with the elements of the diamond logo. I created the hand-written “Brew” portion of the logo via Adobe Illustrator and aimed to deliver a look that was clean and simple.

Hello Summer

EG America convenience stores wanted to launch a marketing campaign unlike any others done previously. This marketing campaign was branded “Hello Summer”, and it spanned 975+ convenience stores across the United States for Summer 2019 This campaign was meant to target young mothers in their early thirties who enjoy on-the-go conveniences, and stop by well-lit, clean convenience stores to pick up drinks and snacks for her children in between sporting events and family outings. I used vacations and summertime elements, along with the brand’s colors to create a campaign that generated additional sales and traffic in the stores and online.
